(2a^2+a+3)/(a-1)

OpenStudy (compassionate):

Hello. So here we have an algebraic fraction. We can solve this by first factoring what we have up top then canceling like terms. \[\frac{ 2a^2 + a + 3 }{ a - 1 } \] Now, notice this is not a polynomial, trinomial or binomial. The terms cannot be factored any further. Therefore, this expression is already reduced.
