Which are the like terms in 5x3 + 3x2 – x + x3? A. 5x3and x3 B. 5x3and 3x2 C. 5x3, 3x2, and x3 D. They are all like terms.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hi welcome to Openstudy! like terms are coefficient (1,2,3....) with variables with the same degree of exponent . so which do you think is the right one from your choices?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

HI! thank you very much~! umm b?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nope, try it again for example: \(x^2 + x + x^3 +3x^2\) like terms will be \(\color{red}{x^2}\ and\ 2\color{red}{x^2}\) because they have the same degree \(\color{red}{x^2}\)

i didn't learn this my teacher is veery bad and docent really reach us much but just gives us tests.. um A.

@Chibi_Robo3 help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes you're right :) \(5x^3\ and\ x^3\) have the same variable and exponent \(x^3\) lol i understand your situation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you so much @Chibi_Robo3 ! i give you medal :D hope you can help me with another question i am going to post:D

OpenStudy (anonymous):
