how do you find the scientific notation of 96400?

Since this is a whole number (not in decimal form) you put a decimal at 9.64 because it cannot be greater than 9. Then you move right until you reach the last zero and you count how many times you did it and thats the exponent you put the 10^ to. So 9.64 x 10^how ever many times you moved the decimal
