:3
do you have any guesses?
Yeah, sorta
this seems like questions to make you familiar to the basics of algebra, so it would not do much good if i just gave you the answers straight away as you'd struggle the rest of the year. So it's important you at least try to understand these assignments
For the first one, you know that Dirk worked h hours, and that Charlie worked 1.5 hours less than Dirk. So the amount they work together is h + (h-1.5), right? And the total number of hours they work together is 25. So what is the answer to the first one?
can you at least tell me which ones you have already an answer to, and why you think that answer is correct?
no 1 is not D. Dirk works h hours and his friend works 1.5 hours less than Dirk, so his friend works h - 1.5. You have that his friend works 1.5 hours more andd that is incorrect. 1 is C.
ohh ok
how about 2?
Close call, i think your reasoning was largely correct but the (h+1.5) or (h-1.5) represents Charlie, as Dirk is already represented by the h. And since Charlie works less than dirk, it should be the one with the -
\( \color{red}{Dirk}~ \color {green} {Charlie}~\color{blue}{total}\) \( \color{red} {h} + \color{green}{(h – 1.5)} = \color{blue}{25}\)
as for 2, the quotient of a number means a division. so an unknown number divided by 3 totals 18
k dudee i need help on the others i have 10 minutes my brother wrote this test for me and i get to borrow his skateboard for a week if i get them all correct..
oh i forgot to include the 8 less part, so an unknown number divided by 3 minus 8 equals 18
so is 2 B?
yes
how bout 3?
the product of two numbers means multiplication
so that one should be obvious
Soo what is it?
15 = 3x, as it's the only one with multiplication
okay ya i thought it was that one.
if no symbol for adding, subtracting or division or anything else is added, multiplication is implied
okay 4 and 5! I have 5 min!!! :3
which do you think it is at 4?
D?
okay can you explain to me after? i got 3 min.. Just give me the answers now then explain thanks
i don't think 5 has the correct answer listed btw,
5. The length of a rectangle is 4 inches longer than its width. The area of the rectangle is 12 square inches. What are the length and width? Which equation models this problem? 4 x w = 12 w(4 + w) = 12 w + (4 + w) = 12 w – (4 + w) = 12
okay dude please hurry i got 2 min what do you think 4 and 5 are?
1 min now :((
4=A but D looks very similar indeed
5 is none of those
ok thanks. 5?
foreal?
oh actually the answer is B
oh dammit i chose c before the time went out hahaha thanks anyway
Hey thanks so much for your help. I post on here sometimes and no one helps
the area of a rectangle is length multiplied by width
so (w+4) * w
