Plz help me its my final exam and its algebra 1 its super hard. I will give medal and i will fan u. The average number of emails received each day by two groups of people is shown below: Group A: 5, 2, 200, 2, 2, 1, 2, 4, 1, 4, 4 Group B: 4, 2, 1, 1, 2, 5, 2, 2, 4, 4, 5 Which statement best describes the mean and median of the data shown above?
The median number of emails received by people of Group A is higher because of the absence of an outlier. The median number of emails received by people of Group B is higher because of the presence of an outlier. The mean number of emails received by people of Group B is higher because of the absence of an outlier. The mean number of emails received by people of Group A is higher because of the presence of an outlier.
What is the mean and median from the data, you think?
Anyone know it?
The "mean" is the "average" you're used to, where you add up all the numbers and then divide by the number of numbers. The "median" is the "middle" value in the list of numbers. To find the median, your numbers have to be listed in numerical order, so you may have to rewrite your list first. Therefore, the mean number of emails received by people of Group A is higher because of the presence of an outlier, (a number out of range in context with the others; so in this case 200 in group A).
Well for group A the median is 1 and the median for group B is 5 and the mean idk
@calculusxy
All your answer choices asks about the effect of the outlier. Group B has no outlier and so there is no effect of the outlier on Group B. Group A has an outlier. Does this outlier affect the mean or the median? You don't have to calculate and find the mean or the median to answer this. See sylvia's answer above.
So wat would be the answer @sylvias
Yea i seen that lol so it would be A or D
I think A
Wait nvm its D
Am i correct
The outlier in Group A is 200 which will make the mean higher.
So its D or A plz tell me ik u cant give direct answers but idk im dumb
D.
