OpenStudy (mia99):

determine algebraically whether each function is even odd or neither?

OpenStudy (mia99):

\[4x ^{3}\]

OpenStudy (mia99):

i am not sure how to go about doing this

OpenStudy (imstuck):

to find out if it's even, replace the x with -x and if it's even you should get back the exact same expression.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i will let someone else splain the algebra but it is a polynomial with only one exponent (3) and that is an ODD number

OpenStudy (imstuck):

4(-x)^3 = -4x^3...not the same so not even.

OpenStudy (mia99):

ohhhh that makes sense thank you!!!

OpenStudy (mia99):

sorry i dont know if this is late but how would you know if it is neither??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[f(x)=x+3\\ f(-x)=-x+3\] and \[f(x)\neq f(-x)\\ f(x)\neq -f(-x)\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that is an example of "neither' most are neither

OpenStudy (mia99):

thank you!!
