The upward velocity, v, of the water in a fountain is 28 more than the product of -32 and t, where t is the number of seconds after the water leaves the fountain. As the water moves upward, its velocity decreases until it reaches the top where the velocity is zero. Write an equation to represent this.

OpenStudy (deepolisnoob):

v=28+(-32t)

Thanks!

OpenStudy (deepolisnoob):

this seems more like a quadratic equation, but that fits the word problem

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its all confusing to me..

OpenStudy (deepolisnoob):

it says that velocity, v, is, =, twenty-eight more, 28+, the product of -32 and t, -32t

OpenStudy (deepolisnoob):

just put it all together, you're left with v=28+-32t...or v=-32t+28 i prefer the second one because it looks less messy

OpenStudy (anonymous):

after the equation i have to figure out how long it takes for the water to reach maximum height? (v = 0)
