Point P(2,3)is a vertex of a rectangle. Determine the quadrant p if the rectangle is reflected across the x-axis.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Point P is located at (6, –5). P is reflected across the y-axis to create P'. What quadrant is P' in?

OpenStudy (loser66):

when reflecting across x-axis, the coordinate of the point changes from (x,y) to (x, -y)

OpenStudy (loser66):

You point is (2,3) , it will become????

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks you kno this one Point P is located at (6, –5). P is reflected across the y-axis to create P'. What quadrant is P' in?

OpenStudy (loser66):

I just give you guidance, you must make decision by yourself, period. when reflecting a point across y-axis, the coordinate of the point will change from (x,y) to (-x,y) Your point , (6 , (i can't figure out what ??? mean in your comment) 5) will become ???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its quadrant two right

OpenStudy (loser66):

I want to know your point (6, ??? ) use draw box below to draw it out. Latex doesn't work

OpenStudy (loser66):

ok, it works now, I can see it is (6,-5) so that , after reflecting across y-axis, it becomes (-6,-5) which is not in quadrant 2. Redo!!
