how do the properties of a compound compare to the properties of the elements it's made from?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

we can't because they're difference. OH- , H2O , H2O2 , H3O+ these compounds constituted by oxygen and hydrogen,can you compare them?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

am i right? @JFraser

OpenStudy (jfraser):

mostly. Hydrogen and oxygen are odorless, colorless gases. The most common compound made from them, water, is a liquid that is vital to life on this planet. The properties of a compound will vary greatly from the properties of the elements that make it up.
