what is the significant role of spore formation in the reproductive cycle of this bacterium ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The significant role of spore formation in the reproductive cycle of bacillus anthraces is that the formation of spores allows the bacillus anthraces to reproduce and disperse during very unfavorable conditions. Spores can remain viable in unfavorable conditions for long periods of time.

feel free to give a medal if this helped you.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

spore is formed in reproduction in unfavorable because it can tolerate the extreme condition also

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Spore formation in bacteria is not reproduction. It is a mechanism for surviving unfavorable conditions. @mdillon1230 @kolenav

reproduction itself means surviving in other form frn

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@anata No it does not. Reproduction is the creating of a new and whole organism, whether that be a single cell organism or a multicellular organism. Bacteria spore formation is more akin to the metamorphosis that butterflies go through. The bacteria creates a a protective layer that keeps the cellular contents required for it to be alive safe until a time that it can emerge from the spore and become active again. Bacteria reproduce via binary fission, exclusively. It is a process similar, but not the same as mitosis. Spore formation does not require binary fission.
