OpenStudy (imstuck):

first thing to do is to divide by the 2 on the left. And is that supposed to be an = sign in front of the 14?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no there is no equal sign...thats what threw me off.

OpenStudy (imstuck):

So it's not an equation...an equation has an equals sign. This is an expression and you are to simplify it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh okay. so Would I have to isolate the x first??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

......

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wow I looked at this for a long time is it multiple choice? anyways no mater what you have to figure out what x is so maybe you would have to guess...I know not much help. when I first looked at this question I did 3 x 3= I don't know why but I assumed it was three and maybe it is but seriously I'm kind of lost. good luck and im sorry I couldn't help maybe I could help next time.
