Hi welcome to Openstudy! you can only subtract or add similar or like terms :) \((x^2-6x+5)-( 2x^2-3x+2)\) \(x^2-6x+5-2x^2+3x-2\) ->remove brackets \(x^2-2x^2-6x+3x+5-2\)->collect like terms \(-x^2-3x+3\) -> simplify
