Anyone using Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS ? How will you compare it with windows ?

Yes, I am using Ubuntu 14.04 LTS on my laptop also on VPS. Windows is a Graphical distraction. Lets say, you are a programmer, you want to know how software packing works. You can't learn it easily if you use Windows. But if you use Linux based OS like Ubuntu. You can build a software from source. You can do any modification on the software if you want. Most of the software package on Ubuntu are open source. You can view all the source code.

Additionally, You can use free software on Ubuntu . But if you use Windows if you purchase softwares. Also the best softwares like Libre Office, VLC, Mozilla etc are open source software. You can feel the taste of using free and Open source software.

@alamin.opu10 You can use a great deal of Open Source software on Windows and build it from source too, so that is not realy that big of a difference as you are claiming. The main difference in the free part is the OS price itself. But after an OS is paif for or installed for free, everything else can be free no matter what OS you use.

One of the true advantages of any Open Source Operating System is that you can modefy the kernel. You can tune the OS to the machine. This can improve performance. Another is that if you don't need something, like a graphical interface on a server, you can do away with it easily and retain performance.
