Table of values help pleasee!!!!! I'm plugging in " -2 " for each x in this equation " y = -2x^2 + 2x + 1 " After plugging in " -2 " it turn into " -2(-2)^2 + 2(-2) + 1 " Solving that would give me -8 + -4 + 1 My teacher mentioned something that when dealing with negative numbers, you have to subtract instead of add so then -8 - 4 right? Equals to -12 + 1 = -11 Is -11 the answer?

OpenStudy (ahsome):

Yes, good job :)

OpenStudy (cyclone3260):

@ahsome did I really get this right or are you just trying to close this thread?:(

OpenStudy (ahsome):

You did dude, don't worry ;)

OpenStudy (ahsome):

Do you want me to explain how?

Think of it this way, you have a number line. |dw:1410008914586:dw| and you need to add "-4" which just means you need to minus 4, so when you subtract a number you go to the left of the line right?
