As a matter of fact it is just one use of op amp. It can also be used as a buffer to isolate two circuits or use as an integrator also.

And typically Op amps have very high voltage gains , high input impedance, draw little current at the input, and have low output impedance.

all of the ideal characteristics of an amplifier is in Op Amps... and it can easily be applied in different field of electronics amplifications...
