so \[S _{n}=20(1/4-1)/1/4-1\]
\[S _{n}=\frac{ a(r ^{n}-1) }{(r-1) }\] where r>1 Our r is 1/4 so it is less than 1, therefore we use \[S _{n}=\frac{ a(1-r ^{n}) }{( 1-r) }\] when we substitute \[\frac{ 20(1-\frac{ 1 }{ 4 }^{20}) }{1-\frac{ (1 }{4 }) }\] can you be able to simplify that
do you cross out both 1/4
no....
can you help me simplify it because this is my first time doing this.

work out the numerator first then work out the denominator...do not think of crossing out anything..remember in the numerator only 1/4 is raised to the power 20
