NeNe tripled a cookie recipe for a party. The original recipe called for 4.25 cups of sugar. NeNe tripled the sugar amount and poured it into a mixing bowl. The mixing bowl got knocked over and 3.46 cups of sugar spilled. How many cups of sugar were left in the mixing bowl?

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Think: what is "triple 4.25 cups?" if 3.46 cups of sugar from "triple 4.25 cups" has spilled, how much sugar is left in the bowl?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(4.25*3) because 4.25 cups go tripled but then 3.46cups spilled so -3.46 from what you get (4.24*3).
