If the average (arithmetic mean) of x, y, and z is y, what is x+z in terms of y? A. 2y B. (3/2)y C. y D y/2 E. y/3

OpenStudy (asnaseer):

what have you tried so far?

OpenStudy (phi):

do you know how to find the average of 3 numbers?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I tried writing out the problem, yea you add all the numbers and divide by three

OpenStudy (phi):

when you add letters, it's easy: write them down and put a + in between them to divide this by 3, draw a long line underneath it, and put a 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and then what do i do?

OpenStudy (phi):

you set that equal to the "mean" which they tell you is "y" can you write it down? (don't try solving , just write it down)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok done

OpenStudy (phi):

can you write it here?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

xyz/3=3 Kappa

OpenStudy (anonymous):

= y Kappa

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok i will
