Amanda is adding the numbers below. What is the sum written in scientific notation?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (kl0723):

8.2x10^20... you can only have 1 decimal place... when adding you keep the same # of decimal places as the # that has the least in the given operation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you mean 8.1?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Err 81? I don't know lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So, is the answer 8.15x10^20? That's the only answer in my choices that has a plain 20.

OpenStudy (kl0723):

is the same as 8.2... I rounded, because you need only one decimal place

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh okay. Thank you! So it is, 8.15^10^20?

OpenStudy (kl0723):

yep :) unless you have an 8.2 in your choices

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No I do not. But thank you very much! xoxo
