Evaluate -6 - (-3).
-|6-3|
That would be -3, if I am right.
-3 lol
Please stop giving direct answers. :T
how can i doit
-|6-3| :T
I know, I know, I shouldn't *blushes* I don't know how I get the answer or how to explain it though. So I hope by having the correct answer, they can learn by it. That's how I've learned lots of times in the past.
@DangerousJesse
If you don't know how to find the answer, please don't just give the answer. Let someone else help.

You've got to be kidding me.
I'm about to rant, so leave if you don't want to hear it.
It is ridiculous how many people think it's fine to just hand off the answer or scribble something and say "hope that helps". It doesn't help anyone @7Savage7 @digitalcamera and @TheLonelyHermit. In fact, it only hurts those of us that have worked for hours and hours with students, writing out each and every single step, explaining every little detail, reminding them to carry this and distribute that. It is so disgustingly rude of you to come in and toss out an answer when others are actually trying to \(help\) the student. Please be more considerate when you lend a hand, and stop ruining the point of this site by helping users cheat.
cry some more lel
who
Ye okay, kid. Have fun.
thanks
i know what si the anwer is that i need help in how to doit
@DangerousJesse I try to do that as much as I can, and usually try to not give the answer. But I believe that an answer is better than nothing. I didn't mean to mess up what you were doing. Ultimately it's up to the student if they want to learn or not though. Jose has the choice of trying to use the hints you give him and learn for himself, or just take the answers we give him.
You see how there are three "-" signs?
That means that the answer will be negative x minus negative y, and if negative x is further from zero than negative y, the answer will always be negative. Since x was further from zero than y, you know the answer will be negative.
So you can get rid of those extra "-" signs and just subtract three from six (6-3). Because you know that the answer is negative, you put "|equation|" to say "Hey, the answer can be smoothed out, so this won't screw anything up". And since we know the answer is negative, we say "-|equation|" or -|6-3|.
Which leaves us with -|3| or -3 :)
i lost
Where at?
doit with numbers not with letter
That means that the answer will be -6 minus -3, and if -6 is further from zero than -3, the answer will always be negative. Since -6 was further from zero than -3, you know the answer will be negative. So you can get rid of those extra "-" signs in front of 3 and 6 and just subtract three from six (6-3). Because you know that the answer is negative, you put "|equation|" to say "Hey, the answer can be smoothed out, so this won't screw anything up". And since we know the answer is negative, we say "-|equation|" or -|6-3|.
Or, in simple terms: I need six apples, so I have fewer apples than I want, -6. I just bought three apples, and I need to see if that's enough for me. I already know that I need six apples, so I can just say 6 apples needed-x apples purchased= 0 apples needed. If we add -6 to both sides, we get x apples purchased= -6 apples needed, or x=-6. I need to subtract -6 apples, and I've only purchased 3. That's -6+3, or -6--3=-3. -3 is the answer.
thanks
