What was the first act that the Parliament passed in an attempt to raise revenue by taxing the American colonists?
The Quartering Act: obligated colonial legislations to meet the needs of British soldiers stationed in that colony The Stamp Act: mandated that colonists affix stamps to certain legal and commercial documents The Declaratory Act: stated that the Parliament had the absolute right to impose taxes on the colonists The Revenue Act: taxed goods such as paper and paint that the colonies imported from Britain The Sugar Act: increased the duties on sugar imported from the West Indies
Well, i'm pretty sure in 1764 the Currency Act was the first act passed. However, it's not on your choice list. The next, I believe, was the Stamp Act in 1765.
