OpenStudy (triciaal):

area of a trapezoid = 1/2 h(b1 + b2) where h =height and b = base

OpenStudy (triciaal):

for this figure 1/2 * (a + b) (a + b) = 1/2(a + b)^2

I also have another question

OpenStudy (triciaal):

another approach if you divide this figure into 3 triangle find the area and add them should get the same result. left side area of triangle = 1/2 b a right side = 1/2 a b ba = ab therefore subtotal ab now for center c^2 = a^2 + b^2 so c = rt of (a^2 + b^2) area of this triangle = 1/2 c*c = 1/2 rt(a^2 + b^2)* rt (a^2 + b^2) = 1/2(a^2 + b^2) add area of all 3 sections = 1/2(a^2 + b^2) + ab = 1/2{a + b)^2-2ab} + ab 1/2(a + b)^2 - ab + ab = 1/2(a + b)^2= same as using formula

close this if you agree then post the new question. if you tag me i'll try to help you out
