You are given an equation of a line and a point. Use substitution to determine whether the point is on the line. -x - 4y = -14;A(-6,2)

OpenStudy (dangerousjesse):

14;A?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

plug the point into the equation and see if it holds, so -(-6)-4(2)=-14 becomes 6-8=-14 becomes -2=-14 which is obviously false so point A doesn't lie on that line
