Identify the square root of 3 as either rational or irrational and approximate to the tenths place. @IMStuck

OpenStudy (imstuck):

you have to have a calculator that will give you the value of the square root of 3. Do you have one of those?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (imstuck):

Ok, then, when you type in the square root of 3 and hit enter, what do you get?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the square root of 3 is 1.73205080757

OpenStudy (anonymous):

r u there?

OpenStudy (imstuck):

right. Sorry. Im here.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (imstuck):

In order for that to be rational, it either has to repeat a pattern continuously, or have an end to its decimal places. the square root of 3 does not repeat a pattern, nor does it end. So it is irrational.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thx. and whats the approxamite tenths place?

OpenStudy (imstuck):

OpenStudy (imstuck):

one number to the right of the decimal is the tenths place.
