What is the relationship between a-b and b-a

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hi there, a-b and b-a is just the difference between two numbers, and this number will be either positive or negative depending on the order. The number that the difference is will be the same though, just it will be positive in one case, and negative in the other. If you need to convince yourself of this, you can put some numbers in as a and b, for example, a=5 and b=2 a-b = 10-5 = 5 b-a = 5-10 = -5
