How can we determine a linear function if it is represented in a table of values ?

Calculate the slope between each set of points. Slope is calculated by (y2-y1)/(x2-x1). If the slope between each set of points is the same, this means the slope is constant, which means the function (or at least the part given to you) is linear. If there is variation, it is not.
