OpenStudy (goldps):

find y / solve equation 3y^4-9y^2+2=0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

good luck

OpenStudy (goldps):

lol, gee thx

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you can use the quadratic formula to find \(y^2\) since this is a quadratic in \(y^2\) or else put \[3x^2-9x+2=0\] solve that one, then replace \(x\) by \(y^2\) and solve again

OpenStudy (goldps):

kk ill try that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

unless there is a typo there, this problem was not cooked up to factor you are going to get \[x=\frac{9\pm\sqrt{57}}{6}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

which is actually two solutions then take plus or minus the square root of those for a total of four solutions
