This sounds very stupid but what is the square root of 4a?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

sqrt4 times sqrta maybe

OpenStudy (amistre64):

why do you need to determine sqrt(4a) ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I simply need to find sqrt of 4a. Some people say it's 2a but 2a^2=4a^2 which ISN'T the same as 4a. But then if we assume it's simply 2, where does a go?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

a is some value, which is not determined, so it remains as sqrta

OpenStudy (amistre64):

sqrt = ^1/2 \ sqrt(4a) (4a)^1/2 4^1/2 a^1/2 2 a^1/2
