The iron plow became common during the Han dynasty. How might this have influenced trade in China? The iron plow would have increased agricultural production, allowing people to specialize in crafting goods for sale and increasing trade with neighbors. The iron plow would have been widely traded with neighboring nations, increasing the amount of goods and wealth that came into China. The iron plow would have diverted craftsmen from workshops to the farms, in order to provide enough food to trade with neighbors. The iron plow would have caused higher demand for iron, and as a result the price of iron would have risen dramatically.
