What is the angle measure when the hands of a clock are at 8:00?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If they are both touching a line, there would be no angle. 0 degrees?

OpenStudy (kobeni-chan):

The minute hand would be at 12, and the hour hand would be at 8. A quarter of an hour would make a 90 degree angle, like if it were only at 9:00 So it is at least 90 degrees. Between the 6 and 9, we know there is 7 and 8. If you section it off, it can be split into 3 parts: between 6 and 7, 7 and 8, and 8 and 9. 90 degrees would be their total. There are 3 parts. 90/3 = 30. Each hour would result in 30 degrees. 8 is only one part away from 9, so that is 30 degrees. 90 + 30 = 120. If the hands were at 8:00, the hands would make a 120 degree angle (I don't know if I explained that right, lol)
