in this equation y>2x+8, would the part on top of the line be shaded or the bottom

OpenStudy (kobeni-chan):

For these type of questions, you can figure out the answer by testing the origin: (0,0) 0 > 2(0) + 8 0 > 0 + 8 0 > 8 ^^that isn't a true statement, the origin has less value So you would shade whichever side the origin is on, whether it be above or below, while looking at the line graphed

OpenStudy (kobeni-chan):

below the line

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

the values of y are all greater that the values on the line - so which part do you think will be shaded?

myininaya (myininaya):

If you have y>mx+b then you shade above the line because it says y is greater. If you have y<mx+b then you shade below the line because it says y is less than.
