GH=7y+5, HI= 3y+5, GI= 9y+7 find GH

OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):

? it's given...

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

If G, H, and I all fall on the same line (ie they are collinear), then GH + HI = GI which is the segment addition postulate

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

So that allows you to say GH + HI = GI 7y+5 + 3y+5 = 9y+7 solve that for y. Then plug that into GH=7y+5
