A system of equations is shown below: 8x + 5y = 9 3x + 2y = 4 Create an equivalent system of equations by replacing one equation with the sum of that equation and a multiple of the other. Show the steps to do this. Show that the equivalent system has the same solution as the original system of equations.

the wording is a bit confusing but i assume they mean: step 1: choose either the first or the second equation. step 2: multiply the other equation by any number you like step 3: add these two equations together step 4: replace the equation you choose in step 1 by the result of step 3 step 5: prove the solution of these two equations is the same as the original two
