to use this method decide which variable you want to eliminate multiply the first equation and the second equation by the factor needed to make the sum of the term 0 when you add the 2 modified equations. you now have one equation with one variable then you solve for this variable. you have the value so substitute in the original equation to find the value of the other variable.
3x + 2y= 9 equation 1 6x + 5y= 15 equation 2 what variable would you like to eliminate x, or y?
