I have a question about finding the indicated length. Okay so if they want me to find MP on the line segment and if you can imagine a line and then point M on the edge and then 5 and then point N and then a big gap being 18 and then at the end of the line is point P.

My question is, what is the formula of finding an indicated length. They want me to find MP, so I'm assuming that they want me to find the total length, which adding would be 23, but I don't know if that's right and I'm not quite sure if I'm supposed to add them. Help please.

From the information you provided,  it appears that the problem is just that easy. You simply add 5 + 18
