They also had different and effective tactics in the wilderness fighting that took place, since the unit tactics of the European armies were less effective in that kind of fighting.

The French had the advantage in that regard, since they had more Native allies. That's probably because the location of the various tribes were more in French territory, and the French were promising to stop the spread of British colonists into Native lands.
