|2x + 4| > 14 You have to solve this 2 ways. 2x + 4 > 14 and 2x - 4 > 14 ---------------------------- 2x + 4 > 14 Subtract 4 to both sides: 2x > 10 Divide 2 to both sides: x > 5 ---------------------------- 2x - 4 > 14 Add 4 to both sides: 2x > 18 Divide 2 to both sides: x > 9 So your answers are x > 5 and x > 9.
