OpenStudy (adajiamcneal):

the midpoint of UV is (5,-11) the coordinates for one endpoint are U(3,5) find the coordinates for point V

OpenStudy (amistre64):

5 is halfway between 3 and what? -11 is halfway between 5 and what?

OpenStudy (adamaero):

http://www.algebra-class.com/image-files/slope-formula-2.gif or if you can't take that further, graph it out and extend the line

OpenStudy (amistre64):

slope is not asked for ...

OpenStudy (adajiamcneal):

@adamaero they didnt ask for the slope all it asks is to find the coordinates for the other endpoint

OpenStudy (adajiamcneal):

@amistre64 what do you mean?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

if something is halfway between 2 things, then the distance to each thing is the same. right? so, start at the starting point, see how far it takes you to get to the middle, then add that much to get to the other end ....

OpenStudy (amistre64):

we have starting points: 3 and 5

OpenStudy (amistre64):

we have middle points 3 ...... 5 and 5 ...... -11 we can determine what it took to get there to add on to the end and get to the end points

OpenStudy (adajiamcneal):

@amistre64 i get that but i dont understand how to find the other endpoint....would it be 2 and 15?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

3 (+2) 5 (+2) _____ 5 (-17) -11 (-17) _____ if you 'get it' then you understand how to find them

OpenStudy (amistre64):

-16, not -17 ... fat fingers annd all lol
