OpenStudy (igster1112):

How do i add integers with different signs like positive and negative?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

adding is adding, not too sure what your asking tho

OpenStudy (igster1112):

How do u add for example 4 plus negative 6?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

think of the number line: and start at +4 <---------------()----------> +4 if we 'add' -6 to this we are simply counting to the left instead of the right, since left is the negative direction <---------------()----------> -2 -1 0 1 2 3 4 |______________| -6

OpenStudy (amistre64):

in effect, 4 + (-6) is equaivalent to 4 - 6

OpenStudy (igster1112):

So it's 2

OpenStudy (amistre64):

no, we end up less then 0

OpenStudy (amistre64):

-2

OpenStudy (igster1112):

Oh ok....I need to know when I translate 4,-5 6 down and 7 right on a coordinate plain what my new point would be?i was trying to use integer rules to solve it

OpenStudy (amistre64):

down 6 is applied to the -5, not the 4

OpenStudy (amistre64):

(4,-5) (7,-6) ----- 11,-11

OpenStudy (igster1112):

Oh ok

OpenStudy (amistre64):

gotta go, internets cutting out

OpenStudy (igster1112):

Ok
