what are some similarities between a monarchy and a theocracy?

OpenStudy (mikkel900):

I've read online, the British monarchy is also the head of the church, and the Japanese emperors believed to have descended from the gods. Also, you say that most kings rule by "divine right". I suppose these could be similarities between a monarchy and a theocracy.

I know I learned this but I had to look this up because I cant remember this specific thing very well but this is what someone on yahoo had to say x3 There are a lot of theocratic overtones in Monarchies. For example, Europeans kings rule by "divine right". The monarch of the United Kingdom for example, is also the head of the church. The Emperors of Japan made claims that they descended from gods.

Wait, @mikkel900 has a much better explanation.
