Width=12 , Length=17, Diagonal=? what is your hand measured value?Measure the width of your computer monitor to the nearest 10th of a cm or 16th of an inch. Measure the length of your monitor as well. Use Pythagorean Theorem to find the diagonal length of your monitor. After you have calculated the approximate length using Pythagorean Theorem, use a measuring device to measure the diagonal length of your monitor. Was your measurement close? Why might the measurements not be exactly the same?
if the length of your monitor measure \(a\), and the width has measure \(b\), then the diagonal \(c\) measures: \(c=\sqrt{a^2+b^2}\)
The measurements may not be exactly the same because of measurement error (your ruler might not be exactly straight when doing your measurements... meaning you might be off a few millimeters or something when measuring each required length)
ok thanks
