Yes, is true, because King Henry was married to Catherine of Aragon.Then, he fell in love with Anne Boleyn and wanted to marry her. He asked the pope to grant him a divorce, but the pope refused because it was against the Catholic Church to get a divorce. After 7 years, Henry declared that the pope had no power over him and the pope excommunicated him. In 1534, Henry has parliament declared him the head of a new church, the Church of England, or the Anglican Church. This was a Protestant Church.
