Which sentence contains a misplaced modifier? A. Mr. and Mrs. Moreno were amazed by the crowd's excitement. B. The faces of some fans were also brightly painted. C. In support of the team, the Morenos saw fans with posters. D. The Morenos saw fans in clothes with the team's bright colors.
Here's the definition of a modifier. A modifier is a word, phrase, or clause which functions as an adjective or an adverb to describe a word or make its meaning more specific. So in A "amazed" would be the modifier. In B "brightly" would be it. In D it would be bright in C "saw" would be the modifier. I'm thinking B would be it. It just doesn't sound right it should be the faces of some fans we're painted brightly also. I'd go with B.
