on friday night, john ate pizza for dinner and had 1/2 of the pizza leftover. on saturday he ate 1/3 of what was left. how much pizza did joh eat on fri and sat

Just add them together 1/2+1/3
So you have to have a common denominator which is 6 to add them
So for 1/2 you multiply 3 to make the denominator a 6
And for 1/3 you have to multiply2 to get the denominator a 6
3/6+2/6=
The answer should be
=5/6
