How should I approach converting km/h to m/s?

OpenStudy (stefrheart):

first try to convert the km to m

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How would I do that in short time with any unit in the metric system?

OpenStudy (bibby):

learn dimensional analysis and remember the proprtions. there are 1000 meters in every kilometer. set up the proportions so the units cancel to convert 10 km to meters\(\huge 10\cancel{km}\frac{1000m}{1\cancel{km}}\)

That's exactly what I'm reviewing right now. So I would need to memorize the proportions of every unit? I assume I would do the same with meters and seconds.

OpenStudy (bibby):

kinda. if you wanted to convert 3 days into minutes, you would do something similar \(\large \frac{3\cancel{days}}{}*\frac{24 \cancel{hours}}{1\cancel{day}} *\frac{60minutes}{1\cancel{hour}} \)

Thanks so much.
