I know this is math but is anyone good at paraphrasing?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

What's your question?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Create a paraphrase of the following sentence from "The cold equations": there could be no alternative- but it required a few moments of conditioning for even an EDS pilot to prepare himself to walk across the room and cold, deliberately take the life of a man he had yet to meet

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

so you need to state "there could be no alternative- but it required a few moments of conditioning for even an EDS pilot to prepare himself to walk across the room and cold, deliberately take the life of a man he had yet to meet " in your own words, more or less, right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes. less I think.

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

honestly, it seems like something is missing from that paragraph, but let me think for a sec

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

it sounds like some fighter pilot is going to drop a bomb on someone (maybe more than one person)

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

so maybe somehow say it takes mental preparation to be able to carry out the task of killing someone from high above someone you haven't met and someone you'll never see
