anyone know what are these courses about ? 1.MODERN PHYSICS 2.MATHEMATICS AND SOFTWARE PACKAGES FOR PHYSICS 3.DISCRETE MATHEMATICS 4.COMPUTER NETWORKS I 5.INTRODUCTION TO DATABASE 7.SPEECH COMMUNICATION AND TECHNICAL WRITING 8.VISUAL PROGRAMMING (BASIC) 9.WEB DEVELOPMENT I 10.ALGORITHM AND PROGRAMMING TECHNIQUES 11.COMPUTER ARCHITECTURE 12. INTRODUCTION TO SOFTWARE ENGINEERING 13.ADVANCED DIGITAL SYSTEMS DESIGN 14. ALGORITHMS ANAlLYSIS AND DESIGN 15. ELECTRICAL CIRCUITS I 16. COMPUTER NETWORKS I
need advice which one to chose :-| i only know 3 lol not sure if im allowed to chose it :-|
I think Modern Physics is sort of like a course on some quantum mechanics and relativity sort of things. I've never taken it, but I remember thinking it sounded cool. I don't really know anything else though.
i think its cool course :O but idk lol its a choise i have to made xD for alternate course hmm not only me involved i have to convince my colleague she wanna something related to programming :( and im not good in it at all
*
3.DISCRETE MATHEMATICS see the syllabus, it looks exactly same as number theory + graph theory : http://www.cims.nyu.edu/~regev/teaching/discrete_math_fall_2005/dmbook.pdf
this is the only one i know lol
@SithsAndGiggles knows all about graphs
i already know discrete mmm im asking for other courses
i dont think im allowed to take it though
Below are NOT SO EXCITING courses(near waste), I would avoid these : 5.INTRODUCTION TO DATABASE 7.SPEECH COMMUNICATION AND TECHNICAL WRITING 8.VISUAL PROGRAMMING (BASIC) 9.WEB DEVELOPMENT I
i took both number theory and graph theory in seperated courses thats why im not sure about descrete
i get exited for these 1,2,3,10 xD other courses im not sure all CS, programming, and stuff
also 7 course is very fun xD hehe
no not 10 i meant 14 i dont like PROGRAMMING TECHNIQUES idea :-\ but still confused
14. ALGORITHMS ANAlLYSIS AND DESIGN This talks about analyzing complexity of algoritms (big-O notation). NP Complete etc http://www.philadelphia.edu.jo/PDF/QA/sample1.pdf
sounds interesting :O
choose some course that smoothly transits from your current knowledge i don't think #1, #4, #11, #13, #15, #16 are a good idea for a math major unless you have genuine interest in these areas
naa no interset at all only in im interest in modern physics but all unfair choises -.- ugh
modern physics may be too advanced for math ppl, thank a bit... classical mechanics is a prerequisite for this. how good are you in newtonian concepts like momentum/torque etc ? syllabus http://summer.stanford.edu/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/PHYSICS_25S_2013.pdf
im very good in physics :P after all its applied math , oh wait i also have classical mechanics on my list
prerequisite for modern physics are , cal 1,2 and physics 1,2 i took them all
then you're all good, take it !
i have to convince colleague -.- its a course for only two ppl lol she hates physics , and i hate programming no match -.-
but yeah i would stick to physics courses , much more fun
what about 15 ?
If you have to pick something in programming, pick 14. ALGORITHMS ANAlLYSIS AND DESIGN
#15 is an engineering course, involves stuff like kirchoff's laws/nodal analysis/simulation, oscillators, opamps. NOT FOR YOU.
sound interesting
i like 13 hmm is is like digital gates desighn?
i would like to know whats these course about , feels like my colleague gonna force me lol , and im undergraduate dont wanna make a fight xD
courses im scared of :- 4,5,8,9,10,11,12,16
ok thank you xD i think i have an idea now
i also have these in my list , but my colleague dont wanna them ADVANCED BUSINESS STATISTICS 01091381 REGRESSION ANALYSIS 01091385 SAMPLING TECHNIQUES 01091482
all good courses -.-
compurter science and information technology -->engineering i studied half of this
oh i see :O hehe i gat rid of CS courses xD
2,7,8 and 13, i didnt studied
u took 1 ?
how the rest courses been ? which one u advice :O how did u took all of them :O there are from 4 differents major :o
my course was Applied Physics ,it was tough at first sight, they have some math concepts..and some theorotical part
interesting ! glad i dint go to engineering stream hehe
14. ALGORITHMS ANAlLYSIS AND DESIGN <---this is tough
oh realy :O i was gonna pick it
if u r strong at logic, C ,C++, JAVA then u can ,by the way it is compulsory for CS students
i dint thought java and c++ involved in this lol
well im fine with logic , c++ will get used to java hmm
ok what else do u think ?
gtg now , if you have any advice , plz write it down :) thx in advance .
discrete maths is easy and different
web development i think has html, css and php
database has sql..
1,4,11,12,16 are 80% theorotical i think
this list misses many subjects ............one of it is Artificial Intelligence it is a cool subject to study
hey sorry ALGORITHMS ANAlLYSIS AND DESIGN is a cool subject , i misjudged it with ALGORITHMS AND DATA STRUCTURE, lol
it contains various algo such as bubble, insertion ,heap diivide and conquer, greedy algo, dynammic programming, BFS and DFS etc ,,,,,,
it is a positive subject
I highly recommend anything graph theory, especially if it has a large focus on combinatorics. It's a fun course (though no guarantee you'll have the perfect instructor, as with any course).
haha i already took it @SithsAndGiggles :), advanced courses number theory + graph thoery + abstract algebra :D but thx all @ganeshie8 @mathmate for the advice i chosed REGRESSION ANALYSIS 01091385 xD wish me luck ^^
that sounds more like statistics
all the best :) its a fun course too !
yep , its statistics :) i took advance statistics courses before and i wished to take more xD hehe my last course , thx for wishes
