Solve for x: the quantity of x plus 20 over 2 = 3x x = 10 x = 4 x = -14 x = -17

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Im assuming its written out like this... \[x +(20\div2)\] right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok, so first we have to get x on one side of the equation so i would subract x from both sides and get \[20\div2= 2x\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

next i would simplify \[20\div2\] by simply dividing it, so 10 now divide out the 2 from x. So for your final answer you get 5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

All your answers you posted for the answer to the equation seem to be wrong

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ive checked to make sure also.

OpenStudy (phi):

it's probably \[ \frac{x+20}{2}= 3x \]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

aww good point phi

OpenStudy (anonymous):

in that case the answer would be x=4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks
