How is H. G. Wells’ fictional world in War of the Worlds similar to the real world?
thats the story
In this chapter the author uses many literary devices to convey a message that the world that humans know, was ending and that bloodshed was soon to come. Take the metaphor in the first paragraph when the author refers to the setting sun, he is referring to the end of all familiarity. This portrayal of familiarity ending doesn't just occur once, it goes on past the metaphor, it explains that the life humans had known for so long was about to be altered in a dramatic way. This is later shown when the author reveals the creature from the cylinder; the setting is set in a red sun, which foreshadows endless bloodshed, this message of that the world humans knew were ending was amplified by the image of the lone figure of the young man trying to get out of the pit.
