Are you there?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

OK. The recipe makes 4 bags of compost. Kailee wants 10 bags of compost. How much more compost does Kailee want than the recipe makes?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

she needs 6 more bags right?

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

Right. She needs to add more to make 6 more bags than the recipe makes.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for 8 bags of compost she needs 6 and 1/4*2 to make 8 bags. How do i figer out how much she needs for the other 2?

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

This is a proportion problem. BTW, all the answers are wrong. I think you didn't copy the answers correctly.

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

I like the way you think. You just need to modify it a little to figure this out.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A.2 17/32 B.9 3/8 c.7 13/16 D.15 5/8

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

She needs 6 bags. She has a recipe that will make 4 bags. Notice that 6 bags is the same as 4 bags + 2 bags. Also, 2 bags is exactly half of what the recipe makes.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so 6 1/4 Divided by 2

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

So instead of doubling the recipe to 8 bags, which you are correct, would need 6 1/4 * 2 lb of compost, do it the other way.

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

Exactly. Divide 6 1/4 by 2. Then add the result to 6 1/4
